The premise of Gangs of Godavari revolves around a man who goes by the name of Tiger Rathna. After being raised from poverty, Tiger Rathna starts to make a name for himself in Eluru and along the coastline of Godavari. Rathna’s story displays the more qualify of life of those involved crime and politics. Personal sacrifices were made only to be replaced by intense disputes to showcase the power struggle that many self seeking politicians went through.
True Story?
Gangs of Godavari is a rural Indian film that fully embodies the problems and challenges that one would likely encounter in that region of the country. The film’s depiction of power plays, greed, betrayal and ambition must be common in different societies, thus lending weight to the argument that fiction is not entirely fictitious.
OTT Release
For cinema lovers who were not able to enjoy the movie in cinemas, Gangs of Godavari became available on Netflix since June 14th, 2024. This format coincided with the ease of locking on to the film’s taut storyline and strong characterization without the need to step outside one’s home.
Movie Review
The parts that were lauded about Gangs of Godavari, however, were its action scenes, the actors and actresses delivering strong performances, and the musical composition created by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The Gangs of Godavari does not, however, have a high average critically as some say there are flaws in the basic plot and the development of emotions. Despite these shortcomings the Gangs of Godavari has been well received due to the portrayal of criminality and the concept of ambition.
